In the spring of 2012, Monica began her relationship with Global to Local as an active participant in the various nutrition and physical activity programs offered by the Latino Community Health Promoter. As a result, her leadership capabilities and connections with the Latino community in the area propelled her into the role of Latino Community Liaison. In partnership with G2L’s Latino CHP, she has been instrumental in facilitating increased participation from the Latino community. In 2007, Monica was a Latino leader as part of the Community Schools Collaboration parent leadership program where she conducted outreach and supported monthly Latino parent nights at Showalter Middle School. Monica has lived with her family in Tukwila for nearly ten years.
